This really surprised me. I was hoping two of my favorites would get Honors, at least! ("Sugar Changed the World", by Marc Aronson & Marisa Budhos, non-fiction; and "A Conspiracy of Kings" by Megan Whalen Turner. :(
The only one of these I've read is "Dark Emperor". Which I liked, though not as much as Sidman's "Ubiquitous".
I'd heard so much about both the books you mentioned, Sandy - and they did not even win any of the other awards that might have been appropriate for them.
We got a free audio copy of "Turtle in Paradise" that now moves way up on my TBLT (to be listened to) list. I loved Holm's "Our Only May Amelia." I think I will like this year's winner since it is historical fiction.
