About Sounder...

This was such an interesting blog post about Sounder that I just had to link to it:

He Does Have a Name After All

You should read it if you've ever wondered about what happened to the unnamed boy in Sounder after the book ended (like I did), or if you want to know more about author William H. Armstrong.

I discussed some of these very issues in my post about Sounder -- although I must admit, not having read Sour Land, that I did not know that Moses specifically refers to his childhood dog as Sounder.

Thank you for posting this link! I didn't know the boy's name was Moses, and I totally agree with some of the issues the book's critics had. It didn't feel like a children's book to me, either, so it makes more sense now that I know it wasn't written to be!
